I Don’t Want to Go Back

I grew up with my soul searching for more,
with dreams far bigger than my reality,
with hunger for life, with thirst for the world,
longing for places I’d yet to see.

I fought with my hands, with every heartbeat,
carrying the weight of an unfair land,
but deep in my soul, I always knew
I was meant to leave, to take a stand.

If I return, I’ll break, I’ll wither,
it’s not lack of love, nor lack of faith,
it’s just that I know I won’t bloom there,
and love, if I go back... I’ll fade away.
