~A Constant Poet~

Barefoot In The Park As He Lit Up The Dark

I sat
Barefoot in
The park
As a
Gust of wind
Blew in
From the south
Bringing forth
A lurid stench
From the wash
Not far from
Where I was
Pounding a beer
Then he
Suddenly appeared

Any words
I could use
To describe him
Could only
Fall short
Cheap & trite
As I
Sat wondering
If I should
Wave my
Bashful hand
Like a branch
To the sky
I pondered
& Stared
Enraptured by
His radiance like
A wide eyed child
In the throes
Of Christmas morn
I pondered in thought
As I stared
Barefoot in the park

Then as I
Peered & pondered
A squirrel made
Up my mind
& Ran over yonder
Between
Him & I
Causing our eyes
To meet
Gracing our
Electric lips
With smiles
Effervescent
Ever reticent
I averted my
Awe struck gaze
& Looked away

A panic crept in
So deep
I could nary keep
From letting
A shiver best
My demeanor
As he
Began his
Decent to me
I dropped my pen
Panicking
As he
Called out
A bout
Of anxiety
Began to
Explode inside
My hide
Like ink
From my pen
As I began
To think
Such dread
I feared I’d be
Scorched by
The radiance
His beauty
Exudes
Would he accept
My transcendent
Truths?
Thus were my thoughts
As I sat there
Barefoot in the park
With an
Illumination
Bestowed by
Him
As this
Vine of light
Began to grow
In the dark
Beneath my woe
