Welcome to Poeticous, a place for poetry and a blogging platform for artists. I'm a software engineer making a living coding somebody else's $#!+ but, when I'm not doing that, I'm usually thinking or working on something that I find important.
Poeticous is where my artistic side meets my lifelong passion for science and engineering. I built it for a couple of reasons: First, I needed a place to hang a few poems I had written and I couldn't find one specifically designed for poetry. Second, as I became more and more interested in poetry, I found myself jumping from place to place looking for poems, recitations, analyses, biographies, and translations, so I thought it would be nice to have it all in one location. A third reason, that emerged and has become the most important, is that I really enjoy doing it.
I also hope that Poeticous is useful to others. It's mysteriously comforting to build things that other people use, so this website is yours too. Browse Poeticous to absorb the beauty of a poem or sign up to post your creations, and don't hesitate to let me know how I can make it better by sending me an email at .
Thank you to my mother, Ada Zoe, for adding thousands of poems to the site, one by one throughout many many hours; to Alfredo Jiménez G., for giving us hundreds of beautiful comments that are one of our treasures; to Armando Hernández, for painstakingly entering thousands of poems in the early days; to Ana Delmonte, for translating the site to French; to Laura Bertolini, for translating the site to Italian; and to Y. T. Acosta, for providing many hard-to-find poems by Dulce María Loynaz.
