Unguarded (Her)

Intense breaths and hollow sighs
You gazed upon me and questioned my desires
And through broken words and rapid heartbeats, I challenged your bluff
“You”
…the only sounds that managed to gasp onto my lips as my eyes pierced the center of your core.
“You”
I uttered again
…Daring your denial
Feeling the knot in my throat tighten
As if my words had fallen onto deafened ears
However it was…
You…
Whom I breathed…
Restlessly craved
Inexpressible and undeniable
It had always been you

And with no hesitation
I stripped my chest of its invulnerability and bared my truths
Only for you to find your face resting within
Solely then... did your eyes soften..
As did my breathing…
And with unrelenting strides,
I rushed towards your defiance..
Reading the fear plastered throughout the pages of your heart
…Yet my pace showed no signs of steadying
Nor my glare opted to relieve its penetration
I just couldn’t cease..
Until I held the pen that narrated our fates stories
For we had been told so falsely before...
