Devil in the Sky

I tend to be tense,
So I put up a fence,
So no one can see
My true identity.

I decorate it with pictures,
Drawn out so carefully,
Of the version of me
I want you to believe.

I try to be funny,
‘Cause humour hides the hurt.
Acting ever so carefree
To throw you off the dirt.

’Cause my soul is so filthy;
Infested with envy
Of your ability to be
So sickeningly
Happy.

Go ahead and call me bitter, sweety,
Or tell me it’ll get better, sadly
I know that’s a lie,
'Cause it’s not you I despise,
For my true nemesis lies
In the depths of my eyes
When I look in the mirror,
Couldn’t be any clearer
The only people out to get me
Are me myself and I.
