The world is an ugly place
Darkness looming on every street corner
Evil doers ready to feast on the weak
People sleeping on their feet
Just struggling to forget
The places that they’ve been
The things that they have done
The nightmares they have lived
Regrets haunting their nights
Fleeting moments they wish they could forget
Questioning their every whim
Doubts destroying their will to live
Exposing the empty hearts they carry around
Forcing them to confront themselves
For the monsters they have become
Shadows walking among the dead
Waiting for a chance to escape
This endless suffering
But even though we live trapped in the dark
Living to fight the madness
Struggling to survive the sadness
We still have a choice all our own
Our fate isn’t set in stone
No one has that right but us
So I’ve made my choice
I’ll stay
I’ll fight
I’ll use my pen to tell my story
To escape the demons feasting on me
Because to give in
