Apology

Apologize for being born, for clawing through my mother’s womb;
For having been conceived – not timed; for never wanted – coming forth;
Apologize for every step, for every sickly raspy breath,
For every cough and every hurt, for every moment on this Earth.

Apologize for all desires, for every spark and forest fires,
For all my needs, for all delusions, for all wild spasms and confusions,
Apologize for all my wants, and all my effort to right wrongs,
For my unforsaken dreams, and all the loves that boil whitin,

Apologize, my awful heart! On your knees and on your palms!
In the fires and the sulfur! Beg the universe for consumption!
Apologize, my fervid arms! Plead out your forgetful trance!
Speak here your truth to the trees! Scream out your cursed wish!

Apologize for all I am, and for my distorted self,
For the mist and for the rain, for the poison in my veins,
Apologize for my existence, for my damned incognisance,
For my confounded psychology... Apologize for this apology!
