You asked today why I feel the need to throw my life away
I shrugged it off and replied with what do you mean
You pointed at the cigarette between my fingers
You said my soul was turning black
I laughed at that because you should know
It’s always been black
But the reason for this cigarette you see
Is to cope with the way you smile at me
I can’t express how much it makes me feel
Like I’m suppose to feel for eternity
I’ll smoke a cigarette tomorrow because you’ll
Make a joke and I’ll laugh
But the sad thing about that is I’m laughing at myself
For thinking that we would ever last
I’ll probably smoke an entire pack today
Because it’s the only thing that keeps the pain away
