The Apartment by the Beach

Lights go out
So I lay my head
Push aside the extra sheets on the bed
I’m cold but hot and feeling terrified
The squeaking of the bedpost
Is echoing through the hall
There’s sweat on my neck
And a hand on my side
I’m hurting but I’ve never felt so alive
It took me nineteen years to finally lie down
And now that I have I’m at a lost of words
There’s nothing I could think to compare this with
This is was my favorite memory
And my favorite first kiss
But sometimes I wish that’s all that it was
Because when you go a little further, you’re bound to get hurt
