The Ruler of My Heart
Love.
A word that has become an old cliché:
A word that used to have depth and meaning,
One that used to control all man’s actions
And define our lives,
Has now become an over-used, unwanted rag.
But not to me…
Love.
The unexplained emotion that dominates my heart,
Mind and soul is the sole image in my head.
It blinds me, makes me a naïve little child,
Holds my very existence in it’s hands.
Love.
It is untouchable, yet I feel it’s warm embrace
Over my entire body.
I feel it knocking in my heart, begging me
To let it in and continue grasping my fate.
This love I feel
Has done nothing but desensitise man
And claim the lives of both strong and weak.
But it has allowed me a glimpse of your face
That has changed my life forever.
You have become Queen of My Dreams,
Yet I still wake up a commoner.
