(2014)
On a walk one day, all the sounds seemed interconnected. Sounds of life, in harmony with each other.
Orange full moon with a half smile, a hanging lantern, lighting the way, through dark streets,
The flesh withers as we age But our inner spirit Remains the same. And when the body dies The spirit breaks free
It is what it is Despite my wishes for it, Otherwise. You are who you are Despite my expectations,
Oh hummingbird Where are you now? Have you taken My courage with you? Oh hummingbird
Firefly shine your light, Brighten my life, Lead the way, through The meadows, in my mind. Firefly, float so high,
Old friends walking on the beach, the waves bring in, memories, of carefree days;
The dance of fear, Of not being enough, Stops and starts. The unknown, an Uncharted sea,
Summer is near it’s end, I regret not visiting my childhood home, near the gulf, where the sunset
This is the America I know: A sea of white, black, red, yellow And brown faces, Strong minds and voices Raised to the sun,
At that magical time When the yellow moon Sets, And the pink mist Of dawn,
A path with heart Is full of love Which makes us right Brings in the light And chases the dark.
Geese are honking As they fly Across an orange colored Sky. My spirit soars
Twilight slides in quietly as birds fly to warm nests. Pink hues of evening reflect in the clouds. Soon the moon
In the dead Of Winter, I long for Spring. In the rains Of Spring,
Not a word heard As the river flows Over rock, around Banks that lie Waiting for visitors.
