Black History Month

Many years ago
We had tons of segregation
Slave masters abusing black people
A world full of discrimination
Brought from Africa
To do the white mans work
Hundreds were killed
And thousands were hurt
Doing tedious jobs
Such as growing corn and picking cotton
They were treated unjust
And that will never be forgotten
There were many attempts
In pursuit of our freedom
Black men and Women running away
And their owners would beat them
They would take away their food
But ultimately their pride
But all caucasions
Weren’t on their side
There were a brave few
Referred to as abolitionists
Attempting to help my ancestors out
To continue on their quest
The journey through life
Without pain and hard-ache
No more pickin food to fry
While their black skins bake
The emancipation proclamation
Along with the declaration
Freed the slaves
And ended segregation
Martin Luther King jr.
Abraham Lincoln
Malcolm “X” Little
Did what the world was thinkin
Fight for whats right
Don’t lose sight
Always cease the day
And cherish the night
