Now That the Storm Is Passed

Now that the storm has passed, and the seabirds sing back the sun
In the silence between the waves we can listen
As we lay breathless on the sand

Can you hear that, the faint rustle of hope?
And, soft as sea moss, the whisper of a thousand hearts, shimmering in the foam?

In this perfect sandy moment, we can hear the universe singing
Soft and low, in a serenade of faith

“Go ahead, my little children, go ahead into love”

Now that the fog is soft and still, lamb grey in the morning
We can turn and look upon each other, in the newness of the dew
I can see the soft blush on your cheeks, apple and rose
And your eyes, like owls flashing in the dark
Show me back and away to the hills of childhood
When I first remembered this longing

Now that the storm is passed, let us not wait for the next
But climb instead onto this horse of kelp and stone, together
And ride to where the tide is calling
Far and away from our lesser dreams
And into the dappled meadows of the heart
