Plentyn Cael

In the early spring,
On Saint David’s Day,
A young babe boy was born.

Born to a loving mother
Born to a loving father
A young babe boy was born.

In his early days,
He did not cry
He did not eat
He did not lie.

Watching– he did
The same oak tree
Days on end.

His parents– worried
And bothered
Watched the young
Babe boy
Watch the great oak.

One day when
Cooking cawl,
The loving mother
Took the young babe boy
And carried him towards
The hot stove.
As the mother
Came near,
The young babe boy
Shrieked, ‘I have
Seen the acorn
Before the oak,
But I never saw
The likes of this!’

It came to pass
And the young
Babe boy began
To babble and cry.
