Things the Day Brings Me and Thoughts The Night Taught Me

I’m a daydreamer and a night thinker.
out my window I gaze and ponder,
as I begin to wander through my dear dreams;
growing fonder and fonder with my fantasies the day brings.
birds sing, the wind blows,
I know there’s more out there,
I swear if only people cared the way I care, they’d realize dreams are limitless,
explore your mind, I insist.
I could make a list, of the places your dreams can take you.
I promise you there’s much waiting for you around the corner,
but you must come to know your brain instead of being a foreigner.
Daylight carries fairies and mystical creatures,
plenty of dreams where magic is featured.
Create what you’d like,
free your mind and fly.
As the dark rolls through my deep thoughts begin to linger.
finger to lips I shush my thoughts but they decide to remain.
attempting to grasp onto what’s left of me that is sane,
but there’s not much of that in my brain.
I begin to question my existence,
for instance, what is my purpose?
thoughts no longer on the surface,
I am now contemplating death.
debating between whether choosing life over death is even my own choice,
this voice instead of me is dying to get out.
I’m not okay and it’s not alright,
every strand of hope I had is nowhere in sight.
Fear crawls in and whispers things to make me doubt myself,
there are novels of things I fear all stacked in shelf after shelf.
The weight of the world is now being carried on my shoulders,
boulders of guilt are landing on me.
You see, I want to make a change and get involved,
but there are so many conflicts that I fear cannot be solved.
However it revolves around the people,
we are the community that has the power in our hands,
to band together and make a stand.
I think and i think as my thoughts begin to sink,
deeper and deeper down a steep slope of chaos.
But that’s the way it works around here,
as the sun disappears,
my creative thoughts begin to thrive but so does my fear.
