Hills Road

A memory of a childhood home - a bit of fun

An imagination, a powerful thing
Who knows what power it truly brings
A child’s mind, an empty canvas
Imagination could only paint this

Out the door, we’re flying free
Nestled up a cherry tree
Embraced the world from a different view
There was never a thing we couldn’t do

A backyard bakery making pies
Picture clouds up in the skies
A life for Barbie better than ours
She took away our childhood hours

Burning concrete beneath our feet
As we ran along our busy street
Imagining the cars weren’t there
And ran across when they came near

A 50c mixture was worth the wait
Thank God the shop was open late
With little feet trying to walk that far
I’m surprised wee Tom didn’t take the car

Saturday mornings, porridge mixed
Looked like spew but did the trick
Saturday nights, it’s chips with fish
Smothered in sauce, a perfect dish

Nothing better than being young
The world around to create the fun
Imagination is a powerful thing
And memories is one thing it can bring
