Chicks Inside Bricks

December 29th, 2011

I lay here every night staring at these bricks
When I’m not clowning with my girls or playing stupid tricks
You adjust to this shitty situation, but
not even laughter rids you of the guilt and frustration
For every white brick that makes up this wall
There’s a story of a person like me who lost it all
What was lost is greater than any materialistic object
We lost morals, values, self-love, trust, and respect
Months have passed; I’ve moved to diversion
Writing my time away through this excursion
This is the last time I leave my family behind
Past is past; my future is on my mind
Look to your left; look to your right
When you leave here, these people will be out of sight
Not out of mind; whether good or bad, they’ve made an impact
You’ll face more challenges; be careful how you react
If you ever get confused; who’s fake, who’s real?
Remind yourself who held you down through this entire ordeal
Upon re-entry to civilization, be true to yourself
Keep your head straight
Say no to drugs, booze, and bimbos; collect legal money
Nothing would be worse than coming this far
To end up back in these bricks looking like a dummy
