Genuine Encounters

Genuine Encounter

Hello
Do you remember me?
You’re surprised to see me
That I know for sure.
Don’t worry I will not hurt you.  I’m here to help.
The road ahead of you is filled with twists and turns,
But if you stick with me I will guide you through.
You first encountered me in the tenth grade
Though you weren’t sure if it was me and how to handle it.
You were told to give yourself time
So you did.
It didn’t do any good
Just gave you a lot of misery and unanswered questions.
Now that you are more mature
I came to help you again.
Don’t worry about it.
Be proud of who you’ve become.
I know that you are anxious of what your family will think of you.
You’re saying,
“Will Mom cry?”  She’ll want some kind of proof because that’s just who she is.
“Will Dad get angry and shut down?”
What will my sister think?
“Will this hurt Grandma?”
I know that you’ve prided yourself in being “the good child”
But that has to stop sometime.
You have to tell them
You know that,
But you’re scared and that’s okay.
You have to tell them so that you and I can actually merge into one.
I have built your esteem higher than it was prior to before you realized who you are.
All you have to tell them are three little words
And they have the power of impacting your life.
Don’t you want to show everyone that you are okay with it?
Come on, I know you do.
Just do it.
Get it over with.
Hey, you never know
Things might turn out ok.
Give yourself some credit.
And cut them some slack
They might surprise you
But for now keep being the best person you know how to be.
Yes, you will falter at times. And people may not understand where you’re coming from.
It’s important to realize that things will get better for you.
You just have to hang in there with yourself
And with me.
