Isolation

I’ve ridden down in pain,
the horse that cracks against dawn,
runs away– away—away—
with a glimpse of a fresh fawn,
losing with nothing to gain.

I’ve watched the disappearing sun,
knowing not where it goes,
as it falls– falls—falls—
slowly as the winds blows,
strongly as the barren one.

I’ve listened to the calling bird,
its voice distant and alone,
knowing it cries– cries—cries—
from a place only known,
someplace I’ve never heard.

I’ve experienced the isolation,
Pure raw and hardened thought,
while it drowns– drowns—drowns—
amongst the very things I’ve fought,
and have failed against every desperation.
