Caricamento in corso...

Dream Harbor

Her gaze rests on billowed sails,
Held in place by slumber’s rigging,
As she sails past shadowed coves
Where moonlight dances on pearl sand.

In the distance a foghorn sounds
And buoy bells, the sailor’s chime,
Guiding the dreamer through slumber’s fog
To another place and time.

Quietly she passes fog draped harbors
Where gaslights lanterns should glow past dawn,
But in this dream the night’s eternal
For the shadows of darkness never move on.

She hears the waves against the ship
As the fog on the sea begins to clear.
A voice, from a dock, calls her name.
“I’ve arrived”, she whispers, as he draws near.

There are different versions, endings, to this poem. The Orig. was written in 1986.
