Like A Shadow

In the early morning misty light,
When flowers are being kissed,
She appears at the river’s falls
Like a shadow in the mist.

To see her there, like rain on glass,
A creature without an earthly care,
I am mesmerized as she baths herself
And as she combs her glistening hair.

Suddenly, she spreads her arms
And tilts her head, now and then,
As her twirling body rises up
Casting moisture from her skin.

She is surreal, like mystic dreams,
A woodland legend with a twist,
This river-fairy bewitches all
That see shadows in the mist.
