Dragon's Time

A Wagon Ride

In the harbor’s fog the dragon sleeps
As if drifting through a twilight haze
And it dreams so deep of another place
To pass the time of endless days.

Yet, a kindled fire in an unknown hour
Shall rouse the beast to flesh and bone,
It’s colors will drift from ruby red
To the hue of the topaz stone.

To fly within the sunset skies,
Across the land to ledgeneds past,
Weaving through clouds and monuments
And stilling the heart of the last.

Still, before it does, should I not see
That mortal soul taken in hast
Or would this dragon of another world
Just breathe a breath and lay me waste?

Such a sole duty holds it fast,
To rise and fly at the Warlock’s hour,
When the death bells chime it will leap
From it’s place upon the mystic tower.

It’s’ razor wings carve wind and time,
Both earth and space are laid aside,
Then the world will hear those dreadful drums,
See a flag draped coffin and a wagon ride.
