On a Yesterday Page

Gone are the women with buttons and bows
Bright feathered hats and covered-up toes
Long dresses, with flair, that spread out to there
All tucked in that basket where Yesterdays go.

Gone are the Top-Hats, Gold-watches with chains,
Gone are Cabooses, and Steam-powered Trains.
They all took their leave up history’s sleeve
And all that is left are remnants and stains.

Gone are the days of the Model “T” car,
The horse and buggy, and roads not too far.
Progress progressed, and we all professed
To store them away where the Gone-Things are.

Now we have come— to the digital age
Living, vicariously, in the connected cage.
But progress continues, it’s one of the venues
That will be printed on a Yesterday page.
