The Past
To Bre
While you hold so strongly onto your past,
Any new love entering your life simply cannot last,
Many times in life we are faced with a difficult decision,
But we’ll know which way to go if to our heart we listen,
To reflect and ponder on what one should do,
First you must search the soul that guides you,
There are never truly wrong choices,
Because inside our own self we listen to our voices,
Not everything in life turns out the way we foresee,
Choose the way you feel is right or true to yourself you will not be,
Make no choice and the past you will carry,
From a load like that one will get so very weary,
Keep your eyes on what is in front of you,
For what’s behind you there is nothing you can do,
The here and now is where you are,
Into the future we cannot see too far,
Life is an adventure on a very long road,
Don’t be one that carries a past as a heavy load.

I wrote this as I realized just how much the one I love still clings to another that she loves.
