Heroin

It’s bed time and I should be asleep.
My mind is weary and my thoughts are deep.
My eyes are sore from the night passing through.
One hundred scenarios of what to do.

I drift off on a transcendent cloud.
To dream of things I’m not usually allowed.
I see a rabbit along the way.
He pours me a tea and asks me to stay.

But I’m in a rush, so I explained.
I’m coming back down from the high I’d gained.
I search for the point but my vision is spinning.
Though once it’s back inside me I’ll be again winning.

However, not for long because the chase is on.
But my heart sinks... it’s all gone, it all gone, it all gone.
Maybe there’s a substitute or a significant other.
Or even a cousin, friend or a brother.

I had those once, hopefully someday again I’ll be freed.
Freed from its hunger, its scratching, its greed.
