Red, White and Blue
We live in a world where children wear peace signs
But watch their parents go off behind enemy lines.
A world where No Violence is taught in schools
But that same violence dominates the news.
A world where the bravest go out and fight for our freedom
While people at home sit and say we don’t need em.
A world of contradictions
Some big and some small
But stop some time and think
Who pays for it all?
Do the veterans get a warm welcome home?
Or so they sit on the sidewalk, cold and alone?
Do children get a father to see them grow and achieve?
Or do they get a trip to the cemetery to grieve?
Our family and friends go to a world unknown
And we sit and we worry about when they come home.
No one wins in war, the price is too high
Too many people sit alone and just cry
From the sister of a soldier, I thank all that you do
But send them home soon,
Sincerely, the red white and blue.
