Unanswerable Questions
To Seth, all this time and we still miss you.
Some questions are meant to be answered.
How are you? What is this?
But more often we are faced
With the questions that do not have answers.
Why him? Why now?
When we feel the hole in our heart,
We yearn for these answers
Hoping that truth will fill the void.
Well here is the truth,
No matter how many questions we ask,
We will never know what they were thinking,
Or how they were feeling in that last moment.
We will never know why him,
Or why now.
Even if we knew these answers,
There would still be that empty space.
It is not easy to fill that hole our heart holds,
But it must be filled.
So we fill it with memories of soccer and laughs.
We fill it with love and admiration.
That way we can look at what used to be a hole
And remember the beauty of life
And never forget the friend we lost.
