"A Night Without You"

Memories of you accompany me throughout this lonesome night
I here and you confined, out of sight but never off of mind
Longing to hold you tightly in my arms, and you holding tightly
Onto an unraveling strand of sanity, fists clenched ever so slightly

I lay my head down upon the pillow of our bed of dreams
While you lay with eyes widened searching feverishly for a means
Just a fading reason not to wane away into eternity
Again I’m flooded by the images of our every memory

My mind turns, my eyes burn, yet my heart still yearns
For a simple glimpse of your pretty face within my mind it churns
I’d give life’s entirety of rest to feel your head upon my shoulder
But all I’ve got tonight is the glimmer from memories which smolder

I know that this is just for now, but forever does it seem
Since I could rest my head with company in our bed of distant dreams
But still I’m guided by the light which from your halo gleams
The only bit of hope emerges from what’s left as only memory it seems

Into the horizon of lack of meaning I stare waiting to hear your voice
But silence is the extent of any form of anything resembling noise
Alone I stand with rose in hand awaiting your return with poise
So badly do I wish to see, yet alone I sit with little hope and still less choice
