Deceptive Spring

The cherry blossom trees,
With their buds blooming in the sweet spring sun.
The snow melting away,
As the kids laugh and play.
But its not real,
Just a dream trying so desperately to be a reality.
Soon the nightmares come,
Tearing up your mind.
You watch in disarray as the place you once loved goes down in flames.
Though it was just a dream,
You want to go back,
To that short spring day.
Turn back the clock,
To the good old days.

my English teacher in middle school gave me this prompt when I was done with a test. I fell like it represents the loss of childhood throughout the years
