Mother

Mother, oh sweet one!
from your womb I grew wings like a butterfly,
pain you have borne to gift me life,
the burden of a big belly, the blue sore on thy feet,
without complain you have enjoyed giving birth to me.

Mother, oh innocent one!
how I mirror thee,
pitter patter footsteps to your kitchen,
following your sweet scent like a bumblebee.

Mother, oh precious one!
You have stretched thy weary heart to make room for me,
like a twin, you breathe life with every breath I release.

Your love is infinite,
And though at times I find your words silly,
But I love you more than all the stars in our galaxy combined;
for there can never be another like you for me.
