Reunion
The little girl inside of me still waits for you Daddy
She went to sleep that night, dreamed of how happy he would be to see her. He would pick her up, give her endless kisses on her cheek. She would smile and tell him how much she missed him and loved him and he would say the same. She fell into a deep and somber sleep and the little girl waited.
She went to school that morning, couldn’t wait to make it through the day waiting for the reunion that was well overdue. she spoke of it all day with friends and old bond that today would be renewed. And the little girl couldn’t wait.
That afternoon she waited outside the school. With exasperated joy, she waited. peeking through the gates searching for his face. She waited until the smile that lit her face like a christmas tree grew into a frown. The children in the playground had already been picked up, no one was around, but she waited.
Disappointed and heartbroken she sat there with tears rolling down her little cheeks, until she sees a familiar face. it’s mom and mom says “baby I’m sorry he’s not coming” as they leave the school hand in hand, The little girl can’t look away, she is still hoping, wishing, waiting.
