Biting

You hear their words so strong with bite,
And you struggle to see my light.
As lies fall out upon their lips,
The walls of my heart slowly rips.
But I’ll bite my tongue and walk on by
I’ll give no honor to a lie.
I’ll raise my head and drink my tears,
I’ll keep to myself and swallow my fears.
When they speak that I am this or I am that,
I’ll eat it up until I am fat.
As you let their words pierce your heart,
I’ll never show how I fell apart.
I live by faith and walk in love,
And keep my sight on God above.
When they smite my heart and push me down,
Even when they rub my face into the ground.
I keep with me two grains of sand,
Clasped tightly in my right hand.
Two seeds of faith I’ll plant someplace,
With the hope that one day I may enter your grace.
