avenging angel
To Erato
surely, self-annihilation
never an acceptable solution
to a life filled with sadness,
of great heartaches and pain
to a broken spirit, a soul unforgiven
yet seeking absolution
to a heart bereft of pleasures,
the victim of cruel disdain
but into his world she appears,
his sweet avenging angel
she slays the sadness dragon,
she slaughters Gorgon despair
his days now filled with gladness;
his soul released from hell
he starts writing verses anew
whereas before he won’t dare
his past now behind him,
he’s gone back to the spirit well
to drink from the fount of happiness
and breathe in joyful air!
