A mask he wears, to hide his sorrow
As he mourns the loss of a friend
Long will it take his soul to mend
His whole world now dark and hollow
With a smile, he goes through the day
That others may not see the pain
Alone at night, he feels the strain
He prays the ache will fade away
The grief still lingers in his heart
But the sun rises day by day
Driving tears and shadows away
He knows sadness will soon depart
Though sorrow fades, friendship won’t end
In time he’s sure, his soul will mend
