The Fall

Down and down my body does go, closer and closer to the darkness below
Free falling alone and broken, I think about those words, the ones I’ve misspoken
Gasping for air as my lungs do collapse, as I see the dim light cracking the gaps
I’m shouting your name but it only does echo, it’s these tarnished memories I find hard to let go

Weightless and bound to my fate below, oh why did I have to love you so?
The stars grow distance the longer I fall, I feel put away on a shelf, a thrown away doll
This makes me feel more alive to know I’ve been broken, take this last piece of me, my farewell token
Think of me when your body is numb, let my memory eat you, let yourself succumb

Falling this far and you’d think I would splatter, but the only thing that’s broken, my heart, oh how it did shatter
I’m physically fine, yes I’m still intact, but my heart, disassembled, my emotions attacked
Now I’m at the bottom of this dark gloomy hole, looking up at you as you smile and taunt, with that of yours, your hallowed soul
