Sometimes

Sometimes I wish I could fast forward to old age
Slurp my wisdom through a straw
As fast as I can before I must go back
And endure the brain freeze.

Sometimes I wonder why we like to decorate with color and lights.
Is the external world too dark, black and white?
Or is it an internal plight?

Sometimes I crave company and solitude at the same time.

Sometimes I create reasons to be right and reasons to be wrong.

Sometimes I run away to be chased
Sometimes I stay close to keep a carefully measured distance

Sometimes I draw lines in the sand
To illustrate to myself where God’s love begins and ends
Until the ocean beats across the shore
In an eternal
Boundless
Rhythm

Only to make me start again

So is my ability to understand.
