It’s a play within a play
Where I share unwritten role
With the extras of each day
In some decorated mall
There’s no cause to show concern
No opinions to express
What I know I’ll never learn
What I have to know, I’ll guess
The main characters look worn
Their trivial speeches fail
I keep hearing the horn
Those five notes on Christmas sale
They are flowing over trees
Like repetitive remark
Do we mean much more than leaves
On the alleys in the park?
In the gardens of belief
Do I really have to say
Words of happiness or grief
In a play within a play
