Two sets of plates on the table
remained untouched.
The food’s gone cold.
The candle wick  kept burning...
The flickering light slightly
illuminated the room.

The water filled the tub
as the spigot’s turned.
When I looked up,
he’s there... staring at me.
He held my neck so gently;
then, he stroke my hair.
T’was the touch
I was waiting for....
Time finally arrived
to this momentous event.
The time he showed his
‘love and affection’—
My death as I took my last breath.

He quickly rose,
sat at the table
and ate his supper.
(Unbeknown to him...
There was a perfect spice in it)
He smoked his cigar
then laid his head
on a soft pillow in bed.
He closed his eyes
....to never open them again.

Quite a scene! Can't wait for the sequel, two of them beyond the "threshold" again on a candle lit dinner date.
Like.

Was he a ghost? I hope I got it right. It was a well written poem.

No, it was not a ghost, Robert... Maybe I did not make myself clear in writing this one. Hmm...

I really like this one :) very atmospheric; it's easy to create am image in mind of what you're describing, which is good! Well written!

I don't understand the story. Is it about two people commiting suicide? It reminds me of Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed the story very much.

Robert, the man drowned the woman in the tub but unbeknown to him, the woman had prepared poisoned food (perfect spice) to kill him...

Hi Imrogue, this one sounds like an old Betty Davis movie, writers have such an imagination. How are you by the way ? miss you.
