The Waves were Empty

Silence Mother Earth with two clasped ears.

Her Husband’s realm floods from an empty cupped hand.

The waves, lapping and sloshing against the shores,

Tides rhythmically clashing against the steep crags,

thusly His dominion faithfully pulses and spreads.

Sit still, lest your clothes rustle, and strain to listen;

Behold that distant yearning, a hollow chord

from the Leviathan’s brooding depths;

An eerie abandoned soul mourns from the bleakest chasms,

resonating in the muted empty waters of a silent world.

In time, the tides reclaim Her rocky beaches,

Mother drowns in Her Husband’s solitude, foaming at the river’s mouth.

The once proud cliffs round their shoulders, weathered and jaded

by the temptest battles which wound them and cave their stomachs.

Drown your world, mutely, with the waves’ lament.

For it is an inevitable constant, this slow weathering,

bearing the resounding despair of even Mother’s strongest champion,

promising tranquil tempests and rocking lullabies to Her lost

children, finally content.

Leviathan: a (biblical) sea monster of immense size, typically a serpent or a whale.
