Leaving the Door Unlocked

When I was just a kid
No more than thirteen
Decidedly I grabbed
A nightmares dream

With contemporary belief
Since my eyes drew open
That this life of mine
Belongs to another
—Chosen

One of some lost father
Smothered under
Another mothers son

And in those times of growing
When questions rapidly project
Toward a trustful owing
I determined
That this all knowing
Knows nothing at all

I have received no report

With fervor then I did accept
That the night had passed
When the thief warned crept
Into my temple
Into my house
And found no value
In what I had left

A treasure Me
Of earth
Of dirt
Clean
And swept

So now I laugh
Taunt
And forever tempt.
