Damn the under tides!
They swept me down good this time; plunged me deep
I, reaching beyond this dance, grasping for air as my chest tightens in
Air, to breath
Air, to speak my truth freely!
To sing it to my soul; she must hear this time, or she might soon drown
And, whilst I damn these under tides they scream, snatching my ankles & pulling me under; of a soul searching reckoning they scream as they burrow me in
Awakened from dreams of sunlit waves mirroring an easy surface of things, I am now
Lost, floating & drifting upon these soft melodious ocean waves; massaging the outer surface of me.
Now, I am gone, GONE!—deep within these billowing fronts of the damned under tides
Peaceful & sashaying are those easy waves; there I am lost
No more, she screams!
Damn these under tides! But, damn them to cheer!
Forcing me inward & far below this soft chiding surface
Deep under
Terrifying!
With a winking of bravery given
The soul searching begins
A breath is hauntingly taken & yet this gasping of air, once climbed back through an awful embrace, gladdens these lungs of mine to a pure merriment of joy
Like biting into bitter peels so as to reach a tantalizing sweetness inside; deeper
Then I’ll take those blessed, damned under tides as they come rolling in, sinking me to my very depths
For I will rise again to joy all the more! Rising within the grandest solstice of my very breath in tune with the very existence of my being
