Imagination

J Ann Crowder

There was time when my imagination was as big as the countless stars glimmering glow dust in the midst of a dark sea. I could light a path with it, turning the ground into magical worlds, becoming a song rustling in winds, a mystical creature bathing in salty oceans following shorelines into dusty horizons. I could be brave, adventuring new worlds, seeing light in dark caves, & befriending dragons. I could fly as a golden fairy with shiny wings, I could leap on the tops of trees, I could touch moons, or fall asleep in the cusp of a milky tulip. My backyard became my imagination’s exploratory jungle where colors became alive & all my wishes danced. I don’t know how to dream like that anymore, but these memories still bring a smile to my heart.
