Lady of the Sea

By J Ann Crowder

Enchantments of a mystic deep
Fabled creature of sea
A veritable truth she keeps
’Tis a voice of larks’ glee

In rippling shoals of wavy blue
Green tailed, singing bird
Arose with a magic tear’s brew
Aquamarine gleams spurred

On dorsal fins—carved beauty fair
As shallows, restless, bend
Drifting boats seek her nature’s           prayer
Hushed beyond azure scend

Intruding charms set eyes on stars
A golden tailed fluke
Young, clear cheeked—alluring             bazaar
Sings a doves tender flock

Awestruck in everlasting dreams
Enfolding melody
A golden harp’s splendor thus seen
Bossoms burn revery

An enchanting muse thus ensnares
A sailor now bewitched
A note’s bellows softly declare
He besotted—eclipsed

My first little ballad. Another whimsical poem. My daughter wanted me to write a poem about a mermaid. Written July 27th, 2016.
