Your first day
Things will be different now this I can see
You will go off and make friends other than me
I tried to be strong to show you there is nothing to fear
But behind daddy’s strength formed a simple tear
as I watched you walk away in that school line
so many things crossed your daddy’s mind
A beautiful girl you have grown to be
your mom and I are blessed that is a guarantee
It’s your first day of school my little girl my best friend
I am so proud that your ours and not for pretend
It is hard to imagine that the times have gone so fast
Seems like just yesterday I was thinking she is born at last
I remember cuddling you for the first time
Thinking you have your moms eyes and not mine
as you squinted at me with those brown beautiful eyes
I knew you had changed me as my heart cries
It was not sad but proud to be this girls dad
and again to day my dear child another great moment we had
As your off to school now and the house seems at rest
as you and I are not running around and causing a mess
I will miss our mornings those are great memories I must say
But as you and I have different adventures in our lives this day
I promise to always be here when ever you may need
But have a fun first day at school and after I will see you like we agreed
