What is religion?

What is religion in the eyes of the trip?
Is it the backbone of our very lives,
or is it a lie made by whom we despise?

You tell me I can’t jump to the stars,
and yet you tell me someone made them?

Science is proof, religion is faith.
I’m not saying God isn’t real,
but I am saying I’m not convinced.

So what is religion?
Is it an opinion on how you’re suppose to live?
Is it a selfish trick played by Satan himself.

We won’t know until we die,
and even then it will be a lie.
Even then we will hear the cry,
of the lonely world unable to fly.

If you not see what I’m writing is pure,
If you not believe that love is the cure,
Then the blasphemous  way shall continue.

Though it may seem that this poetry is black and white,
Laying on the bed, follow the light, follow the light.

(2014)

What is religion to you? Though this half-rhyming poem seems like a scatter of thoughts, it is not. It's simply two stories put together to bring out your own truth, because the actual truth will never be found. So read this as it is, but think of it as a thought. If you understand, than your truth will be right in front of you.
