The Reason

If you found a reason, a reason to give up
Would that reason be valid, would it be enough
To push you over the edge,
That lay so dangerously near
Would you leap with bravery or hesitate with fear?

If you found a reason, a reason to drift away
Would that reason be acceptable, would it be ok
To justify the actions,
That you’d have planned before
Would you have a conscience, or feel nothing anymore?

Emotions they are complex, leave you feeling perplexed
Conflict of the heart, a battle with the mind
Can leave you feeling empty
Leave you feeling blind.

Life it can seem very hard, dealing lots of different cards
Sometimes the joker, but very rarely an ace
You feel like you’re falling, at an increasingly fast pace

If you found a reason, a reason to hang on
Would that reason be valid, would it be strong,
Enough to stop you from stepping
Over that dangerous edge
Would you feel focused enough, to move off of that ledge?

If you found a reason, a reason to stay awake
Would that reason be valid, would that reason make,
You realise that your actions
Would not be justified
Would you feel so ashamed, would you sit and cry?

Accept that your emotions, may leave you feeling blue
Accept that your heart, may leave your mind confused
Accept that life won’t always, deal that card, the ace
Realise that you’re worth something and cannot be replaced.

So I hope you’ve found that reason, the reason not to give up
And I hope you feel it’s valid, and it feels like its enough
To bring a smile to your face
Let some sadness go,
For I believe that reason’s in the form, of the true friends that you know.
