What is Despair?
How does one define despair?
Is it this constant feeling of worthlessness?
Never good enough, always on the outside,
looking in.
Trying to express indifference.
Knowing it’s a lie you use to stay sane.
Is despair when you give up hope?
When the idea of trying makes your chest
swell up with pain?
When you can’t breath, your eyelids droop,
your head needs support, and your body SCREAMS
of tension and surrender.
Despair is knowing the world is spinning,
and not caring.
Despair is when the will to fight,
evaporates.
Despair is sitting, in an empty room,
with a pencil in your hand,
writing meaningless poetry,
that still doesn’t capture the absence
that consumes you.
