she watches him
as if the fault were in her eyes
poor shorn Sampson
 
withered hands grip the canes  
that barely hold the frail reflection
hands that shaped the contours of her face
 
now the bruises lie
between the budging veins
of  his hands
 
as his body testifies against her
pity is the curse she reads
in every eye but his
