To calendar owners

We, each of us, spend all our lives
Taking even when wants are met,
And thoughts of greed surpass our need
To take what we can get.

Thanksgiving is a time of year when we express our thanks,
Christmas is the time of year for giving.
Halloween and Patrick’s day can both be fun in their own way,
But when do we ever observe forgiving?

Today is June the twelfth,
And I propose a new observance:
Instead of taking 'till we’re dead,
Let’s all form a convergence.
