Mermaids

Sleekly sliding through murky waters
Never to be found in oceans clear as rain
Avoiding hungry eyes of scoundrels
Working magic seen by no man
Feeding Misses Moon with waves
Created from fits of juvenile
Tides washed in and outwards
With songs sang from mothers
Currents churned and seasoned
By wise ones bitter and sweet lessons
Myths told to all while heard by few
Keep spirits of beasts stirring
Beating dense waters with mighty tails of flesh
Creating winds that travel Earth only to come back swiftly
Merely living miraculous life’s unrecognized, unseen, and unrestricted

(2015)

just something simple and fun
